A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: ‘Police were called shortly before 02.30am on Sunday, February 11 to reports of an attempted theft of a car in Greenhill Grove, E12.

‘Officers attended. It was reported that a woman had stolen a black BMW and the owner had then clung on to the bonnet.

‘The car was driven for a short distance, before the woman stopped and ran away.

‘The owner was not injured and the car was not damaged. There have been no arrests. Enquiries are ongoing.’

Police were called to reports of a stabbing on the street in August last year after a fight between a number of people.

A man in his 20s was hospitalised and treated for stab wounds. Police said his condition was not life threatening.

Another man in his 20s was arrested in connection with the stabbing.

In October, police offered a £20,000 reward for information after the body of a man was found stuffed in a freezer at a disused pub on the road

The remains of Roy Bigg were found in the basement of the former Simpson’s Wine Bar on October 15, 2021.

The 70-year-old’s body was found by builders working at the premises in Romford Road more than two years ago.

A post-mortem was unable to determine Roy’s cause of death, and his remains had to be identified using his dental records.

The Metropolitan Police then offered a reward of up to £20,000 for information leading to the arrest, charge and prosecution of those responsible for the murder of Roy Bigg.

Detective Chief Inspector Kelly Allen, of the Met’s Specialist Crime Command, said in October: ‘It’s now been more than two years since Roy was found.

‘Although our investigation, and previous media appeals have provided us with information about Roy’s life, we still need your help to identify who is responsible.

‘Roy went missing in February 2012. We believe that his body may have been in the freezer for a number of years, and that he was aged about 70 when he died.

‘Where was he between 2012 and 2021? To date there have been no confirmed sightings of him in this nine year period. Can you help?

‘Anything you can tell us may prove invaluable in helping us discover what happened.’
