Hans Zimmer makes Bollywood debut in Ranbir Kapoor’s Ramayana alongside AR Rahman, Report
Filmmaker Nitesh Tiwari has started shooting for Ramayana, featuring Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, and Yash as Ravana. According to a report by Pinkvilla, Tiwari and producer Namit Malhotra have enlisted the talents of Oscar-winners Hans Zimmer and AR Rahman for the project. Hans Zimmer, renowned for his work in films like The Lion King and Interstellar, will handle the score alongside AR Rahman, adding to the anticipation surrounding the film.
Reportedly, Hans Zimmer is gearing up to make his debut in the Indian film industry with Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana. Adding to the global vision for ‘Ramayana’, the move to include Hans Zimmer to the project has always been the idea of Namit Malhotra and Nitesh Tiwari. Sources say that Hans Zimmer is also fascinated by the vision for the story of Lord Ram and is all ready to compose the score of Ramayana.
The report further mentioned that the music of Ramayana is composed by AR Rahman.
The first part of the Ramayana trilogy is currently in production and is being hailed as the costliest venture in Indian cinema. Ranbir, Sai, Sunny, and Yash are anticipated to commence filming for their roles shortly. There’s speculation that the film could hit theaters around Diwali 2025. Recently, footage from the film’s set has emerged online, sparking curiosity among fans.
According to reports, Sheeba Chaddha and Lara Dutta have also joined the cast of the film. Lara will portray the character of Lord Ram’s step-mother Kaikeyi, while Sheeba will take on the role of Manthara. Manthara is depicted as the one who persuades Kaikeyi that the throne of Ayodhya rightfully belongs to her son Bharat, leading to Ram’s exile from the kingdom. Their inclusion adds depth to the narrative and promises intriguing performances in the retelling of this classic tale.
