PETALING JAYA: Hamzah Ahmad will become the new head of Penang police on May 13, taking over the post from Khaw Kok Chin.
Hamzah, a commissioner of police, is currently a deputy director at Bukit Aman’s internal security and public order department.
He was previously a deputy director at the federal narcotics crime investigation department (NCID).
Khaw meanwhile was promoted to NCID director last month.
Bukit Aman also announced that Hasbullah Ali, head of the federal money laundering unit, has been promoted to acting commissioner of police.
Meanwhile, Lim Joo Soon, assistant director at Bukit Aman’s special branch, will become the deputy director (cyber crime) of the federal commercial crime investigation department.
