Sir Mick Jagger exercises to Chemical Brothers and Fatboy Slim

Sir Mick Jagger works out to the Chemical Brothers, Daft Punk and Fatboy Slim.

The Rolling Stones frontman also exercises to his own group’s ‘Mess It Up’ and ‘Living in a Ghost Town’, as well as his collaboration with Lenny Kravitz, ‘God Gave Me Everything’, and tracks by the likes of Prince, Sly and the Family Stone, Burna Boy, Marvin Gaye and the Human League.

Mick has put together his favourite tracks for a new playlist as part of Apple Music’s ‘Music That Moves Me’ series.

He said of the selection: “Sometimes I like to exercise in silence, other times I like to be in the gym with Mozart but most of the time I enjoy exercising to music like this!”

Other choices on Mick’s playlist includes ‘Murder She Wrote’ by Chaka Demus and Pliers, ‘Tondo’ by Disclosure and Eko Roosevelt, ‘There Was a Time’ by James Brown and the Famous Flames, ‘Sex’ by The 1975 and Blackstreet’s ‘No Diggity’.

The 80-year-old rocker previously credited his dad, Basil Fanshawe ‘Joe’ Jagger, for instilling a love of exercise in him.

Mick told The Times about his late father: “He was inspiring in terms of physical exercise.

“He wasn’t that tough a father, not a severe disciplinarian or anything like that, but he taught me how physicality was important.

“What he didn’t do, what he was so against, actually, was me being involved in any way in the arts.”

When asked if his dad approved of him joining a rock band, ‘(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction’ singer Mick added: “No, he did not. He was an academic person and a teacher and a fitness enthusiast.

“That meant he taught me how to be academic, how to learn things and how to be fit.

“Clearly I had a whole other part of me that wanted to be creative, but it was my own fault.

“The school I went to did have theatre, it did have performance, it did have music – none of which I participated in at all.”

Mick’s dad was a gymnast and physical education teacher who helped popularise basketball in Britain and wrote two books about the callisthenics movement.
