Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh apologised for the police in action following the death of tribal leader.
Unidentified miscreants abducted and gunned down Athuan Abonmai. The government has suspended 16 policemen following the incident.
The bullet body was found on Thursday. Abonmai was abducted from Tamenglong.
Singh said that Manipur Director General of Police L.M Khaute has constituted a high level committee headed by Radhashyam Singh, Inspector General of Police (Intelligence). The state government may move National Investigation Agency investigation if there are reasonable grounds for further investigation.
