Cristiano Ronaldo is expected to return to Manchester United’s starting XI for today’s Premier League clash with Aston Villa.
The Villans head north up the M6 for a lunchtime kick-off at Old Trafford where they will come up against the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.
Ronaldo, now 36, has netted four goals in his first three appearances for United since re-joining the club from Juventus towards the end of the summer transfer window.
He was rested for United’s midweek Carabao Cup defeat to West Ham as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer joined Villa boss Dean Smith in making wholesale changes.
United made 11 changes for the cup clash and The Mirror expects Solskjaer to revert to the starting XI which defeated West Ham 2-1 in the Premier League last weekend.
That would mean the likes of David de Gea, captain Harry Maguire, Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes also return to the line up.
United are level on points with Chelsea and Liverpool at the top of the Premier League table after four wins and a draw from their opening five fixtures.

Solskjaer’s team completed the double over Villa last season with a 2-1 win at Old Trafford and a 3-1 success at Villa Park in May.
Villa, meanwhile, could switch back to a similar starting XI to the one that defeated Everton 3-0 last weekend. Jamaican winger Leon Bailey made a significant impact off the bench to turn that game in Villa’s favour before picking up an injury, and is set to be ruled out of the trip to Manchester.
United loanee Axel Tuanzebe is ineligible for Villa so Kortney Hause could come into the team.
Man Utd predicted starting XI to face Aston Villa (4-2-3-1): De Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Varane, Maguire, Shaw; Fred, McTominay; Greenwood, Fernandes, Pogba; Ronaldo.
