A 20-year-old man is accused of killing his ex-girlfriend Cancel Godek with a knife in Evje in Agder last autumn.
According to the indictment, the 22-year-old woman was stabbed at least 14 times with a knife when the murder took place on October 30 last year. The ex-boyfriend has also been accused of threatening he would kill Godek about two months before she was killed, Fædrelandsvennen writes.
The 20-year-old called the police himself and told them what he did. He was apprehended on the spot without resistance shortly after.
The trial against the man is scheduled to start in Agder District Court on October 11. Three days have been set aside for the case.
The man accused of murder and the murder victim were boyfriend and girlfriend at one point in time and had a two-year-old daughter together.
Reported for threats
The murder suspect is from Afghanistan but has had a temporary residence permit in Norway. He has lived in Norway since 2015. The killed woman was a Norwegian citizen and had grown up in Norway.
One month before the murder, on October 1, the woman reported her ex-boyfriend for threats and asked for a restraining order. The police started an investigation as a result of the report, but the man was not banned from visiting the woman when the murder took place.
The Agder police’s treatment of the restraining order request is being investigated by the Norwegian Bureau for the Investigation of Police Affairs (Spesialenheten for politisaker).
