Nivin Pauly’s latest comedy-drama has entered the second week at the box office. The film Malayalee From India, which released on May 1, initially opened to an impressive start at the box office, earning Rs 2.9 crore net, however the film has displayed a drop in number over the rest of the days.
It later picked up pace over the weekend, earning Rs 2.4 crore net.

On day 8, Malayalee From India has earned Rs 0.33 crore net with an occupancy of 13.94 percent.
The domestic collection stands at Rs 8.81 crore net, while the worldwide collection stands at Rs 12.65 crore.
Malayalee from India plagiarism row
Popular Malayalam screenwriter Nishad Koya has stated that director Dijo Jose Antony has created the Nivin Pauly-starrer Malayalee From India by plagiarising his script. The issue has gained traction after he presented evidence in front of the media.
Later, during a promotional interview with a YouTube channel, producer Listin Stephen, director Dijo Jose Antony, and actor Nivin Pauly denied the allegations charges made by Nishad Koya.
Nivin Pauly had mentioned that Nishad Koya could have spoken about the issue to Listin Stephen. He also said that he should have sought the help of film associations instead of expressing his anger on social media. He also called out Nishad for being unprofessional.
Meanwhile, Dijo Jose Antony clarified that he wasn’t contacted by any individual regarding the issue.
Nishad Koya opens up
The tiff got intense when writer Nishad Koya, in another interview with the same YouTube channel, claimed that he got in touch with Dijo and notified him about a similar story over a year ago.
The scriptwriter also claimed he had the WhatsApp messages between him and Dijo. He also submitted copies of their chat.
He said he announced a project (the script titled Indo-Pak) in 2021 with Jayasurya and Bollywood star Nawazuddin Siddiqui under the direction of Joshiy.
However, the movie didn’t materialise due to reasons unknown. “Jayasurya later shared the story (of Indo-Pak) with Dijo Jose. I briefed the script to Dijo after Jayasurya asked me to. But Dijo didn’t like it and rejected the story,” the writer added.
