- Make America Great Again (MAGA) Inc. have questioned the timing of Donald Trump’s indictment
- Donald Trump announced on Thursday that he had been indicted over his handling of classified information
- Hours earlier, Donalds and his colleagues were granted access to a document alleging that Joe Biden was involved in a $5m bribery scheme involving his son
The Make America Great Again (MAGA) Inc. have questioned the timing of Donald Trump’s indictment, pointing out it came on the same day that members of the House were shown a controversial Joe Biden ‘bribery’ document.
In a tweet they wrote: ‘It’s not a coincidence that Biden’s Justice Department indicts President Trump the same day as this breaks.
‘Joe Biden allegedly paid $5M by Burisma executive as part of a bribery scheme, according to FBI document.’
Jack Smith, the special counsel investigating Trump’s handling of classified documents, has told Trump’s lawyers that the former president is being indicted, Trump announced on Thursday.
Smith himself has not confirmed the indictment.
Trump will reportedly face seven federal charges relating to his taking of classified material from the White House when he left.
Jack Smith was appointed in November as special counsel to investigate Trump’s handling of classified information
The decision to inform Trump of charges came on the same day that members of the House Oversight Committee were granted access to a FBI report into an allegation of bribery, while Biden was vice president.
Byron Donalds, a Florida congressman, said the timing was eyebrow raising.
Donalds, 44, sits on the House Oversight Committee and was on Thursday shown the ‘bribery’ documents held by the FBI.
He tweeted: ‘On the day members of Congress learn from an FBI document linking then VP Joe Biden to receiving $5 MILLION from Burisma in a pay-for-play scheme, Biden’s DOJ announces another phony indictment of the leading candidate for the GOP Presidential nomination, Biden’s likely opponent, and the former POTUS.
‘This mob-like justice system is turning Lady Justice on its head and is the most significant threat to our democracy.
‘Stand with President Trump.’
Marjorie Taylor Greene, a Republican congresswoman for Georgia, who is also on the House Oversight Committee, echoed Donalds’ anger.
‘Just today, I read the FD-1023 form from the FBI’s most trusted credible informant,’ she tweeted.
‘A detailed description of then Vice President Joe Biden getting paid $5 million to get Ukrainian Prosecutor Viktor Shokin fired for investigating Burisma. Hunter got paid too.
‘Joe Biden has classified documents everywhere. Literally on the garage floor next to the garage door that opens and closes, but the corrupt and complicit FBI and DOJ do nothing.
Byron Donalds, a member of the House Oversight Committee, questioned the timing of Thursday’s decision
‘It’s shameful. Pathetic really. Ultimately the biggest hypocrisy in modern day history.
‘A complete and total failure to the American people. A stain on our nation that the FBI and DOJ are so corrupt and they don’t even hide it anymore.’
On Wednesday, the FBI ‘caved’ into the House Oversight Committee’s demands to release documents that claim Biden was involved in a bribery scheme when he was vice president.
The agreement ended a standoff that began on May 3, when the FBI director, Christopher Wray, was issued with a subpoena to hand over the document.
On Thursday, members of the committee were allowed to start reviewing the document under lock and key inside a SCIF (sensitive compartmented information facility).
Wray had initially refused to share the unverified document with anyone except the chair of the committee, James Comer, and the ranking Democrat, Jamie Raskin.
Comer came out from viewing the document and said it was troubling: Raskin said it was nothing.
Comer wanted all members of the committee to be able to see the document, unredacted: Wray refused.
On Monday, Comer threatened to hold him in contempt.
Marjorie Taylor Greene also condemned the decision, pointing out the timing
But, on Wednesday, Comer called off the vote on contempt after Wray agreed to allow the full committee to access a redacted file.
Comer praised the agreement, and crowed that Wray had ‘caved’ to his demands to allow viewing of the FD-1023 record.
The Biden document was written up by a longtime FBI source whom both Republicans and Democrats have described as credible.
In it, the source details an unverified tip received in 2020 about the business dealings of Biden and his son, Hunter Biden, in Ukraine.
Hunter Biden worked on the board of Burisma, a Ukrainian gas company.
‘After weeks of refusing to even admit the FD-1023 record exists, the FBI has caved and is now allowing all members of the Oversight and Accountability Committee to review this unclassified record that memorializes a confidential human source’s conversations with a foreign national who claimed to have bribed then-Vice President Joe Biden.
‘Americans have lost trust in the FBI’s ability to enforce the law impartially and demand answers, transparency, and accountability.
‘Allowing all Oversight Committee members to review this record is an important step toward conducting oversight of the FBI and holding it accountable to the American people,’ he added.
FBI Director Christopher Wray had until May 30 to hand over the document to congressional Republicans: he refused, and James Comer threatened to hold him in contempt of Congress. On Wednesday Wray agreed to allow access to the document
A spokesman for the Oversight Committee told DailyMail.com members could start reviewing the document from Thursday under lock and key inside a SCIF (sensitive compartmented information facility)
All committee members are now be able to view a redacted version of a confidential document.
It alleges a $5 million bribery scheme involving then-Vice President Joe Biden and a foreign national.
Joe Biden on Thursday dismissed the allegations as ‘malarkey’.
‘Where’s the money? I’m joking. It’s a bunch of malarkey,’ he said to a shouted question at the end of a press conference at the White House with British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.
The White House on Wednesday said Comer was not credible, saying that he has a ‘repetitive tactic of laundering thin innuendo.’
Last week the White House said Comer was engaged in a stunt to appear on Fox News.
