Madras HC to hear expelled AIADMK leader’s plea seeking stay on party’s GS election
Acting Chief Justice T Raja accepted an urgent request made by the counsels of expelled All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) leader Manoj Pandian. The expelled AIADMK leader petitioned the court for an urgent hearing to stay the elections for the position of General Secretary, which were scheduled for March 26.
The acting chief justice also directed Justice Kumaresh Babu to hear the case tomorrow at 10 am.
It is noted that a civil suit filed by Manoj Pandian challenging his removal from the party and the appointment of Edappadi Palaniswamy as interim general secretary — both decisions made during the AIADMK’s General Council meeting on July 11, 2022 — is still pending in court.

On March 3, Manoj Pandian filed a civil suit in the Madras High Court, challenging the resolutions adopted at July 11 General Council meeting of the AIADMK.
Meanwhile, flanked by senior leaders of the AIADMK, E. Palaniswamy filed his nomination today.
