Madonna vows Rio with Celebration Tour Finale with her biggest-ever concert
Madonna performs onstage during a free concert at Copacabana beach in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on May 4.
An estimated 1.6 million people attended Madonna’s show. During the show, Madonna was also joined on stage by Brazilian singer Anitta.
Madonna ended her The Celebration Tour with a performance attended by some 1.5 million enthusiastic fans.
During the performance, Madonna addressed the crowd and said, “Rio, here we are, in the most beautiful place in the world, with the ocean, the mountains, Jesus. Magic!” She was referring to the Christ the Redeemer statue.
Madonna was reportedly on stage for more than two hours. She performed songs including Like a Prayer, Express Yourself and Vogue.
Fans hold up their hands in the shape of hearts during Madonna’s performance at Copacabana beach. The show marked the final stop on her Celebration Tour, which was in celebration of her 40 years in music.
Fans gathered to watch Madonna perform at the beach hours before her show began, braving the heat to see the star on the final stop of her Celebration world tour.
