President of France Emmanuel Macron welcomed the Kremlin’s reaction and threats following his statement about the possible deployment of Western troops to Ukraine, according to his statement in an interview with La Tribune.

French leader noted the need to maintain a strategy of “strategic ambiguity” regarding Russia, meaning not revealing plans. Macron’s statements about not ruling out sending troops to Ukraine are part of this strategy.

The president emphasized that the security of Europeans is at stake in Ukraine.

“If Russia wins, the next second there will be no more security neither in Romania, nor in Poland, nor in Lithuania, nor at home. The range of Russian ballistic missiles covers all of us,” he said.

Macron welcomed the Kremlin’s reaction to his statements about sending soldiers. In his opinion, this shows that the strategy is working.

“Russia’s concern shows that we are right not to close any doors. Otherwise, it means that we agree to abandon the international order based on law, and therefore, peace and security,” said the President of France.

Macron’s idea of sending troops to Ukraine

Some time ago, French President Emmanuel Macron unexpectedly stated that he did not rule out the possibility of sending NATO troops to Ukraine. This sparked lively debates among partners.

Most allies immediately rejected Macron’s idea, while some supported it, including the Baltic countries.

In France, it was explained that Macron did not mean the direct involvement of Western troops in combat operations. It is about assistance in training or demining.

Recently, the press secretary of the Russian dictator, Dmitry Peskov, commented on Macron’s statements. He stated that from France, there is a “very dangerous trend” of constantly talking about the possibility of direct involvement in the war.
