Footy fan gets shock of his life when picked up by Broncos superstar Reece Walsh in classy gesture

Reece Walsh gives two fans a lift in his car Broncos star was praised for classy gesture Walsh has been granted visa for Vegas game

NRL superstar Reece Walsh has made some fans for life after stopping to give a lift to a footy supporter and his young son after Brisbane’s 26-16 trial defeat of Wynnum Manly on Saturday.

The surprised footy fan took a selfie with the 21-year-old Broncos fullback, which later appeared on the Rugby League Guru Facebook page.

‘Mate was walking to the car after the game, Walshy picked him up and drove him and his son to the car,’ wrote the person who submitted the shot.

The move was widely praised by footy fans online.

‘Champion on and off the footy field,’ wrote one Facebook user.

‘That’s legendary stuff right there,’ replied another.

‘Such a legend already,’ said a third.

Another person who was at the game described an earlier Walsh encounter they witnessed on the day.

‘Was at the Wynnum and Broncos game yesterday and after the game he walked over to a huge group of kids who were calling out to him and spent time with them,’ he wrote.

‘He didn’t have to do that.’

Meanwhile, Walsh was last week finally granted a visa to enter the US for the double header in Las Vegas on March 3

The Broncos young gun and Sydney Roosters hooker Brandon Smith endured an anxious wait after their applications were sent to the States for final approval

In September of 2021, Walsh was charged with one count of possessing cocaine after earlier disobeying a police officer’s order to move on from a party spot at Surfers Paradise.

He later escaped a conviction, was placed on a good behaviour bond and fined $400.

The start of the NRL season in Las Vegas on March 3 sees the Rabbitohs tackle the Sea Eagles (1.30pm, AEDT) before the Broncos take on the Roosters (3.30pm, AEDT) at Allegiant Stadium.
