Love Island's Gemma Owen finally name drops dad Michael and viewers celebrate

Ever since Gemma Owen entered the Love Island villa, viewers have been waiting for the moment that she name drops her famous dad.

The 19-year-old is the daughter of football pundit and former England star, Michael Owen, and fans of the show have been watching with bated breath when she tells her fellow Islanders who her father is.

They already know that she must have a fairly comfortable upbringing with the fact that she is an international dressage champion and has stables with a dozen horses.

What hasn't been shared is how she has been given this wonderful home life, until now that is, but it was still not to the ears of those in the villa or her partner Luca Bish.

Gemma finally brings her dad up in a segment that was shown on Love Island's Unseen Bits show on Saturday night, with the teenager doing an impression of Michael.

In the previously unseen clip, producers ask Gemma to do her “best impression” while she is sat alone for the Beach Hut Bonanza.

She started by contemplating: “Who can I do?”

Gemma then said: “There's no way I'm going to do my dad, but people always do the classic, 'If they don't score, they don't win.'”

She went on: “It's something like that. It's some bulls**t or whatever.”

Viewers were celebrating more wildly than Michael did when he scored a goal as they took to Twitter in their droves to share their delight.

Fans were quick to rush to Twitter as the star finally referenced her famous dad.

One viewer tweeted: “Gemma finally brought up her dad!”

Another added: “Gemma finally referencing her celebrity dad in Unseen Bits!”

A third wrote: “Some of these “Best Celebrities Impressions” was good especially where Gemma Owen didn’t know how to do her dad, so she did someone else in “Beach Hut Bonanza”.

While this is the first time that Gemma has mentioned her dad, fans of the show have speculated that there is no way her fellow Islander don't know.

Gemma has been in the villa for a few weeks and then her ex-boyfriend Jacques O'Neill joined them as a bombshell.

With his arrival, fans can't believe who hasn't spilled the beans especially as he dated Gemma for eight months.

One fan tweeted: “It's not credible that Jacques’ has been in for few days and the 'famous dad' hasn't been outed yet.”

While a second added: “There’s a reason why no one knows who Gemma is because there’s no way Jacques comes in and doesn’t go “oh yeah lads you know she’s Michael Owen’s daughter”.
