ESPN analyst Dick Vitale made it known on Wednesday night that he’s not a fan of the way Texas has managed its men’s basketball team.
During the early stages of the season, Rodney Terry was named the interim coach. That’s because Chris Beard was arrested due to an alleged domestic dispute.
Even though Terry has been an outstanding leader for the Longhorns this year, he hasn’t received a contract extension.
Vitale believes Texas failed Terry by not giving him a multi-year deal after winning the Big 12 title.
“LACK OF CLASS by TEXAS ATHLETIC BOARD I can buy waiting until the end of the regular season on the status of @RodneyTerry .However after WINNING @Big12Conference title.He DESERVED a MULTI YR DEAL. @TexasMBB,” Vitale tweeted.
At this point, Texas may want to refrain from contract talks with Terry because the program is just four wins away from a national title.
Texas will face Xavier in the Sweet 16 this Friday.
Once the Longhorns’ season officially ends, they should do everything in their power to retain Terry.
