Explosions were heard in the Orel and Smolensk regions of Russia this evening, January 20. The Russian Defense Ministry reported the alleged destruction of aircraft-type drones.
The Russian defense ministry said that the unmanned aerial vehicles were destroyed by regular air defense systems over the territory of Smolensk and Orel regions. No damage was reported from the crash of the unidentified drones.
Explosions in the Orel and Smolensk regions of the Russian Federation
The last time a drone attack on the Orel region of the Russian Federation was reported was on January 9. Then one drone crashed near the village of Malaya Sakhanka, 5 km from Orel, on a non-residential facility, and two more drones fell on a fuel and energy facility, as well as on Orelenergo in Orel.
According to the media, another kamikaze drone crashed near the Bridge Road Enterprise in Maslozavodsky Lane in Orel. According to recent reports, three people were injured in the UAV attacks.
An earlier drone attack on the Smolensk region was reported on November 26 last year. The Smolensk Aviation Plant was under attack. The enemy claims that at least two airplane-type drones were flying towards the plant. It was noted that one of the UAVs fell on the roof of one of the plant’s workshops and exploded. As a result, the roof itself and a floor beam were damaged. Russians did not report any casualties.
