how right is it to ask yash or darshan to campaign for me every time, asks sumalatha ambareesh
Actress Sumalatha Ambareesh is a well-known personality in the South Indian film industry for her numerous on-screen performances in multiple languages.
Following the demise of her husband, actor-politician Ambareesh, she contested in the Lok Sabha election from Mandya Constituency in 2019 as an Independent candidate.
She later created history by becoming the first-ever independent candidate to win a Lok Sabha seat from Karnataka.
It was one of the closely watched election battles of the 2019 elections with stakes running high on Nikhil Kumaraswamy, also an actor and son of former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy.
This was when Congress and JD(S) were in partnership for the Mandya Lok Sabha seat.
However, it was none other than the two biggest stars of the Kannada film industry – Rocking Star Yash and Challenging Star Darshan, who stood beside her like a rock.
The two who were referred to as ‘jodettu’ (two bulls in English) vigorously campaigned on behalf of Sumalatha, resulting in a thumping victory for the actress-turned-politician.
Yash and Darshan are busy:
With a changed political scenario in Mandya Lok Sabha Constituency, as both JD(S) and BJP political parties have decided to fight the upcoming general election in coalition, Sumalatha Ambareesh is hopeful of contesting from Mandya for a second consecutive time.
While JD(S) is hopeful of getting the Mandya seat for their candidate, Sumalatha is confident of contesting on a BJP ticket.
Amidst the ongoing tussle, the big question remains as to whether actors – Yash and Darshan will return to campaign for the actress in the upcoming elections.
Well, Rocking Star Yash, who is busy with his next big pan-India venture – ‘Toxic’, has recently made it clear that he is not interested in politics and wants to stay focused on his next big venture.
When asked about the same, Sumalatha Ambareesh told the media that last time, the circumstances were such that the two actors selflessly campaigned for her day in and day out as she was contesting as an Independent candidate.
“But, this time, the situation is different. How right is it to ask them to campaign for me when the two actors are busy with their own work? Yash is a pan-India star now, and is busy filming for Toxic. I would not ask either of them to take their time out but they are most welcome if they want to campaign for me. Irrespective of whether they campaign for me or not, they are always my two biggest strengths,” the Mandya MP said.
