Liverpoolin uudeksi manageriksi Feyenoordista tuleva Arne Slot on tehnyt Sunday Mirrorin mukaan jo yhden asian täysin selväksi. Hän ei aio päästää toppari Virgil van Dijkia mistään hinnasta muualle.

Hollantilaistoppari Van Dijk, 32, on edustanut Liverpoolia vuodesta 2018 lähtien. Hänen sopimuksensa umpeutuu kesällä 2025.

Sunday Mirror uutisoi, että Slot on asettanut yhdeksi ykkösprioriteetikseen sen, että Liverpool solmii jatkosopimuksen hänen maanmiehensä Van Dijkin kanssa.

Brittimediassa on jo ehditty pohjustaa Van Dijin sensaatiomaista siirtoa. Van Dijkia on viety Borussia Dortmundin riveihin.

Siihen Slot ei siis suostu. Lehden mukaan Slot luottaa vahvasti siihen, että Van Dijkilla on monta vuotta annettavanaan Liverpoolille.
