A little boy has been struck by a falling tree branch and killed during a ferocious storm in Victoria’s north.

The child – who is primary school aged – was fatally injured just after 8am on private property off Bells Rd in Gowangardie, near Shepparton on Thursday, authorities said.

The child sadly died at the scene, surrounded by family members.

The boy was killed just two days after a man died at another property in Victoria.

He was struck in the head by a falling tree branch while camping on private property in Caringal, in the state’s east.

Emergency services tried to revive him but he died at the scene on Tuesday.

A horrific week of storms has claimed several lives.

In Queensland, Robyn Carman, 59, died just 100m from her Gold Coast home on Christmas night after being struck by a falling tree.

Queensland Police also confirmed the death of two women on Wednesday after three hikers were dragged into the Mary River, near Gympie.

One of the women was able to swim to shore and call for help. The bodies of a 46-year-old woman and a 40-year-old woman have since been recovered.

Brisbane Rugby identity David ‘Mario’ Logan and schoolteacher Stephen ‘Taity’ Tait were pronounced dead after a boat holding 11 people capsized near Green Island, in Moreton Bay, at about 5.30pm on Boxing Day.

A Tingalpa man, 59, was confirmed as the third person to die from the accident when he was discovered on Wednesday morning. Eight people survived. The group had been on their annual fishing trip.

In Victoria, a woman who is yet to be formally identified was found dead at a campground in Buchan in the state’s Gippsland region.

It is believed she was camping with a man, whose body has also been recovered.
