The Detroit Lions are bringing back a familiar face.
Jalen Reeves-Maybin will return to Detroit, where he spent the first five years of his career, after playing for the Houston Texans last season. His agent, Brian McLaughlin, announced a done deal Wednesday night.
Reeves-Maybin recorded 172 tackles and four forced fumbles in 70 career games (14 starts) for the Lions. He also excelled on special teams before signing a two-year, $7.5 million deal with Houston last offseason.
He played in every game for the Texans but logged just 88 snaps on defense. They released the former fifth-round pick last week.
The Lions quickly brought back the 28-year-old, a timely reunion on the same day Chris Board signed with the New England Patriots. Board was a standout on Detroit’s specials teams unit last season, so Reeves-Maybin steps in as a seamless replacement.
McLaughlin didn’t disclose the details on Reeves-Maybin’s new contract.
