PSG and Borussia Dortmund booked semi-final spots (Pictures: Getty)
Paris Saint-Germain came from behind to knock Barcelona out of the Champions League while Borussia Dortmund also progressed to the semi-finals on a thrilling night of European action.
Barca led 3-2 after the first leg in Paris and extended their lead in the tie even further when Raphinha scored an early opener.
But Ronald Araujo’s straight red card on 29 minutes gave PSG hope of a comeback and they equalised before half-time through ex-Barcelona star Ousmane Dembele.
Vitinha gave the visitors the lead ten minutes after the restart with a long-range strike and Kylian Mbappe put the French champions ahead in the tie with a penalty on the hour mark.
Barcelona pushed for an equaliser that would have taken the tie to extra-time – Ilkay Gundogan coming close with a strike that hit the post – but the tie was settled when PSG countered and Mbappe smashed home his second to seal a 4-1 win on the night and a 6-4 victory in the tie.
In this evening’s other quarter-final, Borussia Dortmund beat Atletico Madrid 4-2 to seal a 5-4 win on aggregate and progress to the semi-finals.
Atletico had a slender one-goal lead from the first leg but Dortmund scored twice before half-time – Julian Brandt and Ian Maatsen with the goals – to turn the tie on its head.

A Mats Hummels own goal and a Joaquin Correa strike restored Atletico Madrid’s lead on aggregate but the hosts then scored twice within three minutes to go back in front.
Niclas Fullkrug put Dortmund ahead on the night before Marcel Sabitzer popped up with the decisive goal to send the Bundesliga club through and Atletico out of the competition.
What was said?
Manchester United legend and Champions League winner Rio Ferdinand speaking to TNT Sports after PSG knocked out Barcelona: ‘Absolutely crazy scenes.
‘I think PSG have to thank Araujo for that red card. It changed the game. I think at that point Barcelona looked the most complete and the most confident of the two teams.
‘PSG then looked like a team that were really in control and the confidence went through the roof. Barcelona played their part in a brilliant two-legged tie.’

Two-time Champions League winner Owen Hargreaves, speaking on TNT Sports after Dortmund’s victory over Atletico: ‘It’s a moment to celebrate for Dortmund.
‘[Edin] Terzic made the right calls at the right time, tactically in the first leg. Brandt and Sabitzer were brilliant tonight. That stadium is one of the hardest to go and play in in a knockout tie.
‘That game had everything. It was back and forth, back and forth. Dortmund were the better team, and this will mean everything to them.’
What’s next?
Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund will meet in the semi-finals of the Champions League following their victories over Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.
The first leg will take place on April 30 or May 1, with the second legs a week later on May 7-8.
The semi-final line-up will be completed tomorrow when Champions League holders Manchester City face Real Madrid and Premier League title challengers Arsenal take on Bayern Munich.
London’s Wembley Stadium hosts the 2024 Champions League final on Saturday June 1.
