The April 12 Episode Of Friday Night SmackDown, the first event of the coveted blue brand after WrestleMania 40 proved to be a great one. It was A night full of Newly Crowned Champions beginning their reign, Betrayals, New Contenders Emerging and much more.

Universal Championship Contenders Announced For WWE Backlash

The Night began with none other than the newly crowned Universal Champion, Cody Rhodes walking down the halls where the greatest title reign of all time used to roam. The American Nightmare starts the segment by taking digs at The Rock’s interruption on the past Monday Night Raw. He then proceeds to announce the six contenders for his first title defense at WWE Backlash set to take place in France on May 4, 2024.

LA Knight, Bobby Lashley, Rey Mysterio, Kevin Owens, AJ Styles and Santos Escobar. The Six Superstars were grouped into two triple threat matches that took place later on in the night.

LA Knight emerged the winner of the first bout after hitting the Blunt Force Trauma on Santos Escobar. The match was full of interruptions as The Street Profits had to come in and rescue Bobby Lashley and LA Knight after the interruption by Legado Del Fantasma.

In what promised to be a belter of a main event, Kevin Owens, Rey Mysterio and AJ Styles geared up to take part in the second triple threat match of the night. All three men had a point to prove and they certainly put on a show. Kevin Owens had Styles set for the Swanton Bomb but the Phenomenal One managed to get his knees up in time, He proceeded to hit Rey Mysterio with a Styles Clash from the top rope right on Owens. AJ Styles books his placed in the number one’s contender match next week.

LA Knight, who just defeated AJ Styles at WrestleMania 40 will once again face the Phenomenal One, The Megastar walked out after the match to stare down his opponent for next week.

Solo Sikoa Goes Rogue On The Bloodline?

We are not used to Solo Sikoa speaking much inside the ring but with The Bloodline making their first appearance after Roman Reigns’ loss, tonight proved to be a huge day for ‘The Enforcer’. Sikoa interrupted Paul Heyman and asked the Wiseman that if winning matters then losing should have it’s consequences and that things need to change around here. He proceeds to hug his elder brother Jimmy and could be seen mouthing the words ‘I Love You’ before moving away only for a man in a hooded figure to assault Jimmy from behind.

It was none other than Tama Tonga, the former NJPW star making his WWE debut. Sikoa went on to hit four spikes on Jimmy before raising his finger in the iconic bloodline fashion. When Heyman joined, Sikoa went on to destroy The Wiseman’s phone and continued with the torture of Jimmy Uso. This raises certain questions in regards to The Bloodline, Did Roman Reigns give Solo the order to take on Jimmy? Is Tama Tonga now a part of the? Does this lead to Jey Uso reuniting with Jimmy to take on the newly formed duo?

A Storm Is Brewing On SmackDown

Bron Breakker continued on his path of destruction on tonight’s episode. The sheer power and ability to break through your opponent displayed by this young talent is a sign of things to come for the coming years. He once again ended his fight in mere minutes as he hit the spear on Cameron Grimes for the win.

Bayley’s First Title Defense Set For Next Week

Bayley walked out in front of her blue brand as a champion for the first time. She proceeded to get “You Deserve It Chants” from the WWE Universe, Bayley announced her intentions of fighting her good friend, Naomi for the Championship and out comes Tiffany Stratton. Since her match at Elimination Chamber it has been ‘Tiffy Time’ for the budding superstar who went on to basically state that Naomi does not deserve the title shot more than her. Naomi walked out and a match was set to determine the number one contender.

It looked like it would be game over for Naomi when Stratton mad her way to the top rope to hit the ‘Prettiest Moonsault Ever’ but Naomi survived and countered with a pin fall to win and earn a title shot next week on SmackDown.

The Most Dangerous Tag Team In WWE?

Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill continued their dominance as they took on the newly transferred to WWE SmackDown duo of Chelsea Green and Piper Niven. Cargill had faced Chelsea in a signle’s match on Raw where she comfortably got the victory. The theme continued as Jade once again pinned their opponents to get the quick victory.
