Lee Grant has revealed that the club’s new signings have boosted the Manchester United changing room this season.
The Reds completed the signings of Tom Heaton, Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and Cristiano Ronaldo this summer to bolster a squad that finished as runners up in both the Premier League and Europa League last season.
United have started this season relatively well, and headed into the weekend on top of the Premier League on goal difference after four games. Grant was speaking to the official club website when he revealed the impact the new players have had since joining and admitted that he and the rest of the group are excited by what’s the come this season.
“When any new player comes into the squad here at Manchester United it always gives the group a lift because Manchester United only recruits top individuals. We’ve had four individuals come in that have been to a really, really high level and they’ve improved the group in different departments, different areas.
“For me, of course, the attacking guys. It’s been a real pleasure to test myself up against the top players from across Europe who have been doing it in different leagues so that’s been really enjoyable.
“Working with Tom [Heaton] closely and having Rapha [Varane] in front for that shield for protection has been nice so, yeah, a really nice mix and really exciting times for everybody.”
Sancho, Varane and Ronaldo are likely to all be involved in the weekend’s fixture against West Ham on Sunday, while Heaton could feature in the Carabao Cup game against the Hammers in midweek for his first official appearance since joining.
