23-year-old fulfils late father's dream, cracks UPSC on first attempt, no coaching

Rituraj Sarma from Dhubri, Assam, has managed to crack the UPSC civil services exam on his first attempt, and that too without any coaching. Bagging Rank 462, Rituraj fulfilled his late father Bhupendra Nath Sarma’s dream.

He completed his high school education at Happy Convent School in Dhubri and his higher secondary education at Don Bosco School in Guwahati. He pursued his graduation from Delhi University.

Though his original hometown is in Kamrup Rural Dadara Pasara Village, he was born and brought up in Dhubri.

Raised by his mother, Janita Debi, who works in the health department, Rituraj overcame numerous challenges to pursue his dreams.

Despite facing adversity, including the loss of his father at a young age, Rituraj remained focused on his goal and worked diligently towards achieving it.

“My father also worked in the health department but he died in the year of 2011. Today he is no more but I feel that his blessings are always with me,” says the 23-year-old.

INTERVIEW INSIGHTS

In an interview, Rituraj shared insights into his journey, expressing gratitude to his mother and friends for their unwavering support.

“I am very grateful to my mother for supporting me always in my studies. When I got tired of reading my mother and friends encouraged and helped me a lot,” he says.

He emphasized the importance of perseverance and guidance in cracking competitive exams like UPSC and APSC. Rituraj believes that luck also plays a crucial role in such examinations.

“I think the UPSC and APSC examinations are more or less the same as the syllabus for both are the same. So, those who want to sit for UPSC can sit for APSC also. The (UPSC) exam seems to be tough because there are more students but seats are very few,” he says.

“Around 10 lakh people fill the form and only there are 1000 seats. It needs the right strategies and guidance to pass the examination. Also, I think the luck factor is very important for these examinations,” he adds.

“Now I am looking at what kind of services I shall get and depending on which service I will go to the future,” Rituraj says.

We wish Rituraj all the best in his future endeavours.
