New family-owned, York County grocery store opening soon

DILLSBURG, Pa. (WHTM) — The owners of a long-time meat manufacturer in Wellsville, Pa. recently announced that they will soon be opening a new grocery store.

Weaver’s of Wellsville, a long-time family-owned meat manufacturer, has been operating in the Midstate since its 1889 founding. According to their website, this local meat company is now onto its fifth generation of family ownership; the business is currently run by Craig Weaver and his two sons, Cole and Seth.

Recently, the Weavers decided to use their many years of business knowledge and meat expertise to open a new business, which will be a grocery store called Local’s Market.

The new market is being built with the goal of offering exceptional customer service, convenience, and to create a place for customers to explore new recipes, try new foods, and interact with the butcher and service staff.

“Local’s Market strives to modernize the concept of the downtown grocery store,” Seth Weaver said in an email to abc27 news. “40 years ago small towns had their walkable grocer offering high levels of service, including three in Dillsburg. Since that time, especially in rural areas, these stores have been driven out by large supermarkets often located away from the residential part of town.”

Dauphin County furniture store closing after 50+ years in business

The currently under-constructed grocery store is going to be located at 200 North U.S. Route 15 in Dillsburg. According to Seth Weaver, the store is going to feature about 60 feet of cases that will be stocked with high-quality meat, deli, and seafood options.

Furthermore, the new Local’s Market will also boast a sandwich shop that will utilize quality meats, produce, and fresh bread. The new market is also going to have a mezzanine area with available seating, which will be for guests who are holding lunch meetings or working on their computers.

The construction of Local’s Market is expected to be completed by the end of the week and the new grocery store is slated to open in mid to late March 2024.
