Labor MP Julian Hill says Victoria needs to “examine” what happened with its electricity grid and see whether “there’s any lessons to be learnt”.
Three bushfires continue to burn in Victoria’s west and central regions on Wednesday.
Almost 500,000 were without electricity on Tuesday night, and over 250,000 remain without power on Wednesday.
“We need to take time to, firstly, restore the power and these storms and incidents have happened before where we’ve had major transmission lines knocked out in the state’s history,” Mr Hill told Sky News Australia.
Calls to ‘examine’ Vic energy grid and see what ‘lessons to be learnt’
“We need to focus on restoring the power and then examine exactly what happened and whether there’s any lessons to be learnt.
“The grid stability issues were caused by extreme weather events.”
