A Don, Gangster And Terrorist: Who Are Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal's Neighbours in Tihar Jail?

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who was sent to Tihar jail for a 14-day judicial custody on Monday in connection with the Excise Policy case, is surrounded by notorious neighbours – an underworld don, a terrorist and a gangster – in the central prison.

According to media reports, Don Chhota Rajan, gangster Neeraj Bawana and a terrorist Ziaur Rehman are among Kejriwal’s immediate neighbours in Tihar.

Rajan was once a close aide of Don and terrorist Dawood Ibrahim before becoming a fierce rival and is accused of murdering a Mumbai journalist. Neeraj Bawana, on the other hand, is a notorious gangster with more than 40 cases of murder, attempt to murder, and extortion filed against him while Ziaur Rehman is an alleged Indian Mujahideen (IM) operative with an NIA case against him, Navbharat Times reported.

Arvind Kejriwal was brought to Tihar at 4 pm on Monday and lodged in Jail Number 2, a prison official said, adding that he would be kept under watch for 24 hours.

“His medical examination was conducted. His sugar level was a bit low, but medicines were given to him as per our jail doctors’ advice,” said the official.

Kejriwal was served bread and tea for breakfast on his first morning in the prison. The AAP supremo was given breakfast at around 6:40 pm followed by a long-hour meditation session in his cell. The AAP leader also performed yoga in the jail. His sugar levels have also dropped.

Kejriwal, who is lodged in Tihar’s Jail No. 2, is allowed to have home-cooked food for lunch and dinner and it will be served daily, till his sugar level comes to normal.

On the day he entered Tihar, the chief minister was given tea in the afternoon and was served home-cooked food for dinner, PTI reported.

According to prison officials, Kejriwal was brought to Tihar jail at 4 pm on Monday and was medically examined before being sent to his cell where he is staying alone. His sugar level was below 50 at that time and medicines were given to him on the advice of doctors, he said.
