A woman who created smell-busting ‘perfume drops’ for the toilet has seen her business skyrocket after ‘saving relationships’ across the country.
Aussie entrepreneur Jess Ruhfus, 32, was living with her partner and male housemate during the pandemic and was fed-up with the ‘awkward’ bathroom situation while working from home all day.
She tried everything to mask embarrassing smells wafting through the household including ‘ugly and ineffective’ aerosol sprays which she said only ‘made things worse’.
So, with plenty of time to spare during the ‘quiet’ Christmas period, Jess got to work in the kitchen to create the perfect mix of essential oils that would banish toilet odours and leave a pleasant scent in their place.
The result was No.2, a $29 post-flush perfume that nullifies unwanted smells and replaces them with a citrus scent within 30 seconds.

Sitting pretty in a sleekly-designed recyclable glass bottle, the formula’s alcohol base is made from sugar cane which sinks to the bottom after flushing. The fragrance then rises, trapping odours.
The drops, which are made from natural essential oils, can also be used in the sink to make a musty space like a plane toilet a little more tolerable.
‘It went really well from the get-go. I had friends coming over and I forced sniff-tests on them and then they started asking for a bottle for their own homes,’ Jess told FEMAIL.
‘I made 1,000 bottles as a one-off, almost as a joke, and they sold out within two weeks. I wasn’t expecting it! Then we went and manufactured more and we’ve sold out four-times over. We once did $11,000 of sales in one day.’
Having worked in PR, marketing education and scaling a top software platform, Jess thanks her passion for creating a high quality product and ability to ‘research like a pro’ for her business’s success.

Dubbed a ‘marriage saver’, the No,2 drops have come to the rescue in the workplace, on first dates, in share houses, at hotels, at dinner parties and, thanks to the new travel edition, on planes.
Because they are dropped into the toilet after use, the ‘loud noise’ caused by rival products designed to be used beforehand doesn’t occur – a huge plus for the brand.
‘We are stocked in a bougie hotel in Tasmania and we often hear from couples on date nights and on honeymoons about how much of a life-saver these are,’ Jess said.
‘Many people find us that way and keep coming back for more because of how well they work.’
And the feedback speaks for itself, with countless five-star reviews left by thrilled customers.
‘It’s for everyone! We all go… even if we like to pretend we don’t,’ Jess (pictured) said

‘We love our ‘poo perfume’. Super fast delivery. smell is lovely. Bottle looks great displayed in the bathroom. Far better than any aerosol. So happy with my purchase. Thank you,’ one woman wrote.
‘Not only is the bottle and packaging so chic sitting in my bathroom, but the product actually works,’ another added.
‘The smell is beautiful, and just the right amount to perfume the bathroom without being overpowering. I’m never using a spray air freshener again. I’ve even chucked one in the work bathroom.’

‘From a married man that shares a bathroom with his wife, this is a must-have. Trust me, it’ll save your marriage,’ a thrilled husband wrote.
Jess, who has a ‘top secret’ product in the works, also said there are a surprising number of ‘die hard’ male customers who keep coming back for more.
‘We have mostly women but the male fan base is super loyal which is great to see,’ she said.
