Herald Sun Business Commentator Terry McCrann says corporate boards are lacking the kind of leadership previously offered in the 1980s, which were able to do a “balancing act” as more businesses embrace woke agendas.
“It’s a process which requires taking a tough line but also being prepared to compromise,” he said.
“Knowing exactly what is going to work in the interest not only of the business but actually the workforce as well.
“So, you have an arm wrestle with the union – the object is to actually end up with something that works for both of you, productively, going forward.
“When I look out there across the business landscape, I don’t see the sort of business leaders we had in the 1980s and 1990s that were so important in this process – people that were actually able to these sorts of balancing acts.”
