Sheikh Arif Bulbon :
Kumar Bishwajit is the pride of music industry
of Bangladesh. One Kumar Bishwajit also played
a big role in the creation of Bangladesh’s music
tradition, which we always cherish. He has been singing songs in the stage shows since 1977, even before his first hit song titled ‘Tore Putul er Moto Kore Sajiye.’
Kumar Bishwajit was studying in Class-IV during the Liberation War in 1971. At that time, he was sheltered in the refugee camp of Tibra Bazar at Belonia of Sabrun Border in Feni from Sitakunda of Chattogram. Kumar Bishwajit got Tk5 for singing the first song of his life
in that refugee camp. From 1977 he rendered songs together with Ayub Bachchu, Swapan, Sarwar and Mohammad Ali for Rhythm 77. Then in the late 80s, Kumar Bishwajit formed the band Feelings under his
own name. In 1982, after the song titled ‘Tore Putul er Moto Kore Sajiye’ rendered by Kumar Bishwajit became
a hit. Then he moved to Dhaka. His life of Dhaka started then and also started to perform in stage
shows inside and outside of the capital and also in and outside the country. That is his impeccable walk; Kumar Bishwajit is still unique in the stage shows.
In the meantime, Kumar Bishwajit performed in Cox’s Bazar on January 20, and at Gulshan Club, Dhaka on January 21. Again on January 27, he will perform
at 100-feet in Dhaka, on February 10 at Cumilla Cadet College and other shows. He is engaged in stage shows continuously till March, according to the singer.
While talking about his journey in the field of music, this legendary singer told this correspondent, “Let me say one thing at the outset, it seems to me that we respectfully call the legendary cultural figures of this country who have passed away. Those of us who have lived and worked for a long time have come to a
position where we have made a name for ourselves through our work – we call legends to them. Let the journey of a new beautiful adjective begin.”
Kumar Bishwajit replied that he has been singing for a long time, does he ever get bored? “It’s true, it’s annoying because the artist has nothing to say about his
personal life. Now I really want to give time to my family and I really want to be attached to my family also. Only the followers of the musicians, to keep the people of the music industry forever, and now working to inspire the new generation of artists, I am singing songs and doing stage shows. It’s true that performing in a stage show takes a lot of preparation, which
does not like to take too much at this time.”
Meanwhile, Kumar Bishwajit informed that his four-decade career celebration date will be decided soon.
