Berbicara mengenai kerjaya sebagai ahli bomba, sudah semestinya tergambar tugas-tugas memadam kebakaran yang dilakukan oleh pasukan beruniform itu sedangkan ruang lingkup pekerjaan mereka adalah lebih daripada itu.
Bagi memberikan gambaran jelas kepada masyarakat mengenai tugas ahli bomba dan dalam masa yang sama memupuk minat generasi muda terhadap kerjaya ini, universiti awam (UA) turut memainkan peranan dengan menubuhkan Kor Siswa Bomba di institusi pendidikan masing-masing.

“Kadet KORSIB di UTHM juga berpeluang melakukan aktiviti simulasi pemadaman kebakaran meliputi bimbingan dari segi aspek penggunaan pakaian penyelamatan yang bersesuaian, pemilihan barangan penyelamatan dan pemakaian alat bantuan pernafasan serta teknik pergerakan dalam bangunan yang dibimbing oleh JBPM.
“Menerusi latihan intensif, mahasiswa juga diajar tentang teknik kelangsungan hidup dalam hutan melibatkan penyediaan khemah, pergerakan fizikal seperti mengimbangi badan dan merangkak di samping melakukan pengusungan penyelamatan malah kadet KORSIB juga dilatih dengan aktiviti pengapungan badan bagi tujuan penyelamatan di dalam air.

“Setiap anggota kadet juga akan dilibatkan dengan aktiviti University Community Engagement (UCE) atau khidmat masyarakat pada setiap semester yang melibatkan penduduk kampung, pelajar madrasah dan kumpulan sasar yang ditetapkan,” katanya kepada GPSBestari, baru-baru ini.
UTHM mencipta kenangan manis apabila menjadi UA pertama di Malaysia yang telah menjayakan Program Tamat Latihan dan Majlis Pertauliahan dengan kerjasama JBPM Putrajaya dan JBPM Negeri Johor melibatkan pertauliahan 112 orang kadet KORSIB pada 16 April 2018.
Sementara itu, di Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM), kursus kokurikulum Kesatria Bomba mula diperkenalkan pada 1983 dan dijenamakan semula menerusi memorandum persefahaman (MoU) bersama JBPM dan UiTM pada 13 Disember 2018 seterusnya dikenali sebagai Kor Siswa Bomba Bantuan.
Kursus kokurikulum berkredit KORSIB ini dilaksanakan kepada pelajar yang berminat bagi memberi peluang pelajar ditauliahkan setelah menamatkan latihan selama lima semester.

Mantan Presiden KORSIB UiTM, Muhammad Hussini Mansor berkata, selain ilmu kebombaan, kadet KORSIB juga didedahkan dengan kemahiran insaniah seperti kemahiran kerja berpasukan, kepimpinan dan komunikasi bagi menjalankan program Service Learning University For Society atau SULAM@UiTM.
Menyumbang kepada masyarakat “Melalui program SULAM@UiTM, kami berpeluang membangunkan modul yang berkaitan dengan ilmu kebombaan dan berkongsi kepada masyarakat misalnya kepada pelajar-pelajar sekolah dan komuniti setempat.
“Ini juga bertepatan dengan hasrat penubuhan KORSIB di UiTM untuk membolehkan anggota memberikan perkhidmatan bukan sahaja di dalam universiti malah juga kepada masyarakat di kawasan sekitar jika berlaku kecemasan,” jelasnya.

Tambah beliau lagi, KORSIB juga dapat menarik minat pelajar universiti untuk melibatkan diri dalam aktiviti kebombaan dan merasai pengalaman menjadi seorang pelapis bomba pada masa akan datang.
Dalam pada itu, Penguasa Kanan Bomba II (Kehormat), Noor Afzan Zakaria menjelaskan, bahawa pelajar yang menyertai pasukan badan beruniform terutama KORSIB amat bertuah kerana dilatih secara langsung oleh pihak JPBM dengan kemahiran-kemahiran tertentu berkaitan ilmu kebombaan, selain berpeluang menjalankan program khidmat komuniti.
Menurut beliau, antara cabaran terbesar yang dihadapi adalah untuk membuka mata masyarakat bahawa pelajar yang menyertai KORSIB bukanlah semata-mata memadam api kebakaran, malah kemahiran insaniah yang terbentuk mampu melonjak potensi diri pelajar.
“Dengan ilmu dan kemahiran yang dilatih sepanjang mengikuti KORSIB ini dan ditauliahkan, saya berharap kadet-kadet diberikan laluan khas untuk dipertimbangkan ke jawatan di agensi JBPM. Ini kerana, sepanjang lima semester, kadet-kadet ini telah menimba kemahiran secara langsung dari pegawai dan jurulatih mengikut silibus dan modul yang ditetapkan,” tuturnya.

Penguasa Kanan Bomba ll (Kehormat) Kor Siswa Bomba, Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM), Nur Ekmal Buhary berkata, kursus itu ditawarkan untuk memberi pengetahuan dan pendedahan asas penyelamatan serta kebombaan selain membentuk sahsiah terutamanya dalam aspek disiplin dan kepimpinan dalam kalangan pelajar prasiswazah di USIM.
“Kor Siswa Bomba Universiti telah diiktiraf oleh JBPM dengan gelaran Pegawai Bomba Bantuan Siswa dan pelajar layak menerima elaun sepanjang menghadiri kursus yang dijalankan serta menerima sijil pentauliahan.
“Selepas tamat kursus dan pengajian, pelajar boleh membuat pilihan kerjaya yang berkaitan sebagai kesinambungan kursus yang dilalui dan laluan kerjaya yang boleh dipilih seperti Pegawai Bomba Bantuan Siswa, Penguasa Bomba Gred KB41 atau Bomba Sukarela/Komuniti,” kongsinya mengakhiri sesi temu bual.
