Kong Charles var tilsyneladende i godt humør, da han og dronning Camilla besøgte Macmillan Cancer Centre.

Da det britiske kongehus i begyndelsen af februar meddelte, at kong Charles var blevet diagnosticeret med kræft, markerede det samtidig et foreløbigt stop for kongens officielle optrædener.

Kongen ville trække sig tilbage fra offentlighedens søgelys, mens han gennemgik de nødvendige behandlinger.

Men tirsdag var han tilbage på jobbet igen, da han sammen med dronning Camilla besøgte Macmillan Cancer Centre i London. Ikke som patient, men som royalt overhoved, der kom for at besøge ansatte og patienter på kræftcentret.

Ifølge nyhedsbureauet Reuters så kong Charles sund ud og smilede og vinkede til dem, der var mødt op foran kræftcenteret.

Kong Charles er samtidig protektor for Macmillan Cancer Support, der er en af de største velgørenhedsorganisationer i Storbritannien.

Allerede i sidste uge meddelte hoffet, at Charles snart ville genoptage arbejdet.

I den forbindelse forlød det, at den medicinske stab havde konstaterede gode resultater af behandlingen og havde positive forventninger til det videre forløb.

I slutningen af marts var kong Charles frisk nok til at deltage i en påskegudstjeneste. Her hilste han på flere, der var mødt op foran St George’s Chapel i Windsor.

Buckingham Palace har også meddelt, at den britiske konge vil deltage i flere begivenheder i den kommende tid.

Han kommer blandt andet til at deltage i militærparaden “Trooping the Colour” og ved mindehøjtideligheden, der markerer 80-års jubilæet for D-dag.

Begge dele finder sted i juni.

Derudover har Buckingham Palace bekræftet, at kong Charles og dronning Camilla vil være værter, når den japanske kejser Naruhito og hans kone, kejserinde Masako, besøger Storbritannien i slutningen af juni.

Kong Charles blev kronet 6. maj sidste år.

Han fik konstateret kræft mindre end 18 måneder efter, at han var blevet indsat som konge.
