Health enthusiasts rejoice as the updated standard operating procedures (SOP) issued by the National Security Council (MKN) yesterday says that indoor gyms can now open during phase two and phase three of the National Recovery Plan (NRP).
Hint: Selangor and Kuala Lumpur are in Phase Two now.
There are some stipulations. The visitors must follow strict SOP and the ventilation at the premises must follow guidelines, just to name a few.
According to the SOP, indoor sports and recreational facilities may operate at 50 per cent capacity and under close supervision.
In Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, and other states in Phase Two of the NRP, workers’ attendance at these gyms are limited to 60%.
That includes management and operating staff. Enforcing close supervision may be difficult if they are understaffed. But let’s be honest, after January of every year, gyms are not crowded anyway.
For The Fully Vaccinated Only
Of course, these facilities are only available for those who are fully vaccinated. That means you can only go to the gym 14 days after you had your 2nd Covid-19 vaccination dose or 28 days if you took one of those single-dose vaccines.
If you are fully vaccinated, you can bring your child who is 17-years-old or younger to the gym too.
Operating hours are subject to licence conditions.
