KKB polls: Ask Hadi why he sent grandkids to a Chinese school, PAS info chief told

HULU SELANGOR: PAS information chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari should ask party president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang why he sent his grandchildren to a Chinese vernacular school, says Pakatan Harapan Youth.

The movement’s information chief Ammar Atan said a former non-Muslim PAS Supporters Congress (DHPP) secretary once confirmed that Hadi’s grandchildren studied in a Chinese vernacular school.

Ammar added that even PAS’ Temerloh MP Salamiah Mohd Nor had sent her children to one.

“By enrolling in Chinese vernacular schools, do Hadi’s grandchildren and Salamiah’s children lack patriotism?” he said in a statement on Wednesday (May 1).

His comments followed Ahmad Fadhli questioning the schooling of Pakatan’s Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election candidate Pang Sock Tao.

“Pang is fluent in Malay and this has been proven with her excellent SPM results, including an A in Bahasa Melayu.

“However, we don’t know (what grades) Ahmad Fadhli obtained,” he said.

Ammar also called on Kuala Kubu Baharu voters to ask if they wanted to vote for Perikatan Nasional, with leaders such as Ahmad Fadhli.

“It’s not in our culture to spread hate towards other races,” he said.

Ahmad Fadhli challenged Pang to reveal her academic results, which she did on Monday (April 29).

Pang posted transcripts of her SPM and UPSR results which showed she scored straight As in both examinations.

She is also a graduate of Universiti Tenaga Nasional.

Ahmad Fadlhi later apologised, while noting this indirectly revealed that Pang graduated from a vernacular school.

He also hoped the issue of her vernacular schooling would persist until polling day.

The issue came about after Perikatan candidate Khairul Azhari Saut’s education became a talking point in the campaign.

Khairul’s biodata stated that he received an executive diploma in management from Universiti Malaya in 2019 and an executive masters from Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) two years later.

The sequence led to questions on the validity of his qualifications, with some observers asking how he obtained a master’s even though his previous qualification was a diploma.

Kuala Kubu Baharu voters will go to the polls on May 11, with early voting on Tuesday (May 7). The seat fell vacant following the demise of assemblyman Lee Kee Hiong, 58, on March 21.

The by-election will see a four-cornered fight involving Pakatan, Perikatan, Parti Rakyat Malaysia and an Independent.
