Garrett Graf, a former Texas Longhorns offensive lineman who also served as understudy to renowned line coach Herb Hand, is joining the Stephen F. Austin staff of Colby Carthel, sources tell FootballScoop.

Most recently the co-offensive coordinator and offensive line coach at NCAA Division II program Colorado State-Pueblo, Graf also served as offensive line coach and running game coordinator at Midwestern State.

He will coach the offensive line for the Lumberjacks, per sources.

While at Texas, Graf played under Tom Herman and then transitioned into a graduate assistant’s role as Hand helmed the Longhorns’s offensive line.

Even in those G.A. days for his alma mater, Graf advanced quickly through the ranks as he took a direct approach in recruiting efforts, breaking down tape and assisting in all other capacities.

The Lumberjacks have a season-opener for the 2024 campaign against the North American Stallions on Aug. 31 before a brutal back-to-back set against FBS program North Texas and perennial FCS title contender Montana State.

They’re looking to bounce back from a disappointing 3-8 2023 season in which they lost five games by 12 or fewer points.
