Kim Chiu has clarified her earlier statements about cheating on It’s Showtime, saying that she is not—and will never be—in favor of it. The actress and host stressed that she was a victim of cheating in the past and that it was a “very painful” experience.
“Noong isang araw kasi, hindi ako nabigyan ng chance to explain further yung sinabi ko,” Kim said. “And then gusto ko lang sabihin sa lahat at linawin na hindi po ako pabor sa cheating and never po talaga ako magiging pabor doon. Dahil naging biktima din naman ako noon and it was not easy, it was very painful.”
She added, “Mahabang talakayan kasi ang cheating, hindi ‘yon matatapos ng isang salita o kung ano man. Two hours, five hours, puwede ngang one week niyo pag-usapan ‘yon. Pero again, Kim Chiu, I am not in favor of cheating and I will never be in favor of that.”
“Ayan kasi, nagmukhang ako yung cheater,” Kim told her co-hosts Jugs and Teddy when they teased her for becoming a trending topic on Twitter. “Kasi ang hirap na po talaga. Siyempre wala namang may gustong masaktan. Walang may gustong niloko ka.” When Teddy ang Jugs told her to look for a loyal man, Kim took the chance to give a shoutout to her boyfriend Xian Lim.
In 2015, during an episode of Gandang Gabi Vice, Kim shocked viewers when she confirmed that a previous boyfriend cheated on her. Although she didn’t name him, most people assumed that it was Gerald Anderson.
Kim Chiu’s previous statements on cheating
Earlier this week, Kim went viral after she made some comments on why people are unfaithful: “Baka magche-cheat kung hindi siya naging masaya…Baka bubukas yung mundo ng cheating kung hindi siya masaya sa partner niya.”
Her It’s Showtime co-host Vice Ganda told her, “Again, Kim Chiu, there’s no acceptable reason for cheating. Masaya ka o hindi ka masaya, walang pass ‘yon to cheat. Hindi ka maa–absuwelto doon. ‘E kasi hindi siya masaya kaya absuwelto…’ Walang ganun, Kim.”
During another episode of the variety show, Kim and Vice were talking to a “Reina Ng Tahanan” contestant whose partner cheated on her. Vice wanted to know why the contestant only blamed her partner’s other girlfriend, saying: “E ‘di ba hindi rin matino yung lalaki mo? Kasi kung matino siyang lalaki, e ba’t pumatol pa siya doon sa babae? May babae na siyang naanakan?”
Kim defended the contestant: “Hindi, minsan nasa babae din. Nasa babae din, nasa tamang harot lang din yan. Kasi and lalaki mahina. Mahina, marupok sa harot na tinatawag. Tama?“
Vice maintained that he didn’t agree with this. “Hindi mo puwede isisi lang doon sa [babae]. Pareho silang malandi. It takes two to tango. Hindi makakasayaw yan kung walang partner.”
