Wow! Musk’s Neuralink brain patient moves a mouse with their mind

Billionaire Elon Musk has recently revealed on X (the social media platform previously known as Twitter) that Neuralink’s first human patient implanted with a brain-chip is now able to control a computer mouse by merely using their thoughts, The Guardian reported.

‘PROGRESS IS GOOD’: ELON MUSK ANNOUNCES NEURALINK BRAIN-CHIP BREAKTHROUGH

Earlier last month, Elon Musk took to X and announced that the first human had received an implant from Neuralink and was recovering well. “Initial results show promising neuron spike detection,’ Musk wrote on X.

According to the publication, in a Spaces event on the social media platform X, Musk announced a breakthrough in the Neuralink brain-chip project, saying that a patient that was previously implanted with a chip can now move a mouse around the screen with their mind.

“Progress is good, and the patient seems to have made a full recovery, with no ill effects that we are aware of. Patient is able to move a mouse around the screen by just thinking,” Musk was quoted as saying.

WHO WILL BENEFIT FROM THE BRAIN-CHIPS?: THE COMPANY’S GOALS

According to CNBS, Neuralink aims to get “as many button presses as possible from thinking” from the patient. Musk’s company is based in Fremont, California and is said to be one of many groups working to improve nerve injuries by linking the nervous system to computers with an aim to treat injuries, Fox 5 reported.

According to Neuralink, they “are creating the future of brain interfaces: building devices now that will help people with paralysis and inventing new technologies that will expand our abilities, our community, and our world.”

“The first humans to receive the chips would be people with severe spinal cord injuries as Paraplegia, Tetraplegics and Quadriplegics,” the organisation wrote on Instagram.
