Ishan Kishan marked his return to competitive cricket with a brief flourish, smashing a six into the bushes for Reserve Bank of India (RBI) against Route Mobile in the DY Patil T20 Cup on Tuesday.

The left-handed batter, who had been on a break due to mental fatigue, displayed glimpses of his power-hitting prowess during his knock.

Kishan was eventually dismissed for 19 off 11 balls by Maxwell Swaminathan as he was caught at mid-off while going for the big hit.

But that was not before he hit a wonderful six off the Swaminathan that cleared the ground and landed into the bushes.

Route Mobile dominated the match from the start, putting up a formidable total of 191/8 on the board. The bowlers then complemented the batters’ efforts, restricting RBI to just 103 in 16.3 overs and secured a comfortable victory for their side.

Kishan’s return to the field is a welcome boost for his cricket fans, who have been eagerly awaiting his comeback. The wicketkeeper-batsman is expected to play a key role for Mumbai Indians in the upcoming IPL season. However, there are a lot of question marks on his place in the national side.

The DY Patil T20 Cup is serving as a crucial platform for several Indian players to fine-tune their skills ahead of the busy domestic and international season. The tournament has seen the return of other big names like Hardik Pandya, who is leading the Reliance 1 side.
