rohit sharma needs 6 sixes against rcb to join gayle, pollard & russell in unique club
Rohit Sharma looked in good touch against the Delhi Capitals in the last IPL 2024 match for the Mumbai Indians but missed out on a well-deserving half-century by one run. After failing to reach the 50-run mark in the fourth match for the Hardik Pandya-led side in the IPL this year, Rohit would like to maintain his ace form and come up with a big show against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Thursday (April 11) in match No. 25 of the IPL 2024, which is scheduled to take place at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
In the fifth league stage of this year’s IPL, Rohit, who holds the world record for hitting most sixes in international cricket, will have a chance to join legendary Chris Gayle, Kieron Pollard, Andre Russell, and New Zealand’s Colin Munro in an elite list of batters who have hammered 500 or more runs in T20s.
Most Sixes In T20s
POSITION | PLAYER | COUNTRY | MATCHES | RUNS | SIXES |
1. | Chris Gayle | West Indies | 463 | 14,562 | 1056 |
2. | Kieron Pollard | West Indies | 660 | 12,900 | 860 |
3. | Andre Russell | West Indies | 486 | 8324 | 678 |
4. | Colin Munro | New Zealand | 428 | 10,961 | 548 |
=5. | Rohit Sharma | India | 430 | 11,274 | 494 |
=5. | Alex Hales | England | 449 | 12,319 | 494 |
As of now, Rohit has 494 maximums to his name in 430 matches played so far, and he needs six sixes against RCB to join the unique club. Rohit has hammered 264 sixes in 247 IPL matches and 190 sixes in 151 T20Is played so far. Apart from the IPL and T20Is, Rohit has also played in the Champions League and domestic T20 matches for Mumbai.
In the IPL 2024 match against RCB, Rohit will also have a chance to break David Warner’s record of 861 runs and become the leading run scorer against the Virat Kohli starrer-side. The 36-year-old right-handed batter, who is playing purely as a batter in IPL 2024, has 793 runs in 32 IPL matches against RCB as of now, and he needs 69 more runs to go past Warner’s tally.
Apart from Warner, Dhoni has also scored more runs against RCB in the IPL than Rohit. The former Indian captain has 839 runs to his name in 35 matches for the Chennai Super Kings and the Rising Pune Supergiants.
