5. Society of the Snow

Based on the true story of Uruguayan Flight 571’s plane, which crashed in the Andes mountains in 1972, JA Bayona’s Spanish film Society of the Snow gives the true account of survivors who were stranded in the snow-covered mountains with limited resources and worsening weather conditions. Notably, the film is also Spain’s official entry to the Oscars and has been already shortlisted in the Best International Feature Film category.
