Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's latest move is a 'Royal flop' as they cling to titles

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have launched a brand new website and one expert believes the move is a “Royal flop”.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex launched Sussex.com this week, with the website following on from the launch of their SussexRoyal.com website in 2020. The new move will allow the couple to keep fans up to date and is full of information about Harry and Meghan.

While the new website features a sleek design, PR expert Ryan McCormick believes Meghan and Harry failed to “captivate the attention of millions”. He also suggested the couple are still trying to connect their fame with their time in the Royal Family as they decided to keep their royal titles on the website.

Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, he said: “Meghan and Harry’s new website is a Royal Flop. If they had hoped sussex.com was going to captivate the attention of millions and launch a positive era of re-branding – they were way off the mark.

“First off, by keeping the Sussex name they’re revealing that yes, all of their fame and fleeting influence originates from them being the former Duchess & Duke of Sussex. It’s strange that Meghan and Harry would publicly sever ties from the royal family and yet, still keep that appellation.”

He also suggested the couple could have included more on their brand new website. “Users who visit the new site will find a bio of Meghan and Harry… with no photos.

“The About section has just a mere 21 words. There’s a news page which is a stream of self-congratulating accolades,” Ryan said. “There’s no link to the duo’s social media accounts (as growing their following doesn’t seem of importance).

“Visitors cannot sign up for updates nor is there a means to contact the Duchess or Duke. Anyone on sussex.com is likely asking “what’s in it for me to be here?”

Ryan concluded: “It’s more of a shrine than it is a vehicle to drive the duo to greener pastures. From a PR perspective, the launch is a disaster because it’s garnered a lot of negative attention.”

Others have suggested Meghan and Harry’s new move has risked provoking “complaints from the Palace.” One source told the Daily Mail : “They are going to have real trouble with the use of Sussex. It is a royal title and if there is any hint of commercialism about this it will be shut down. It’s just staggering they cannot see how gauche it is.”
