Ramtha, Mar. 23 (Petra) — President of the Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST) Khalid El-Salem on Thursday discussed cooperation to combat infectious diseases with a delegation from the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR), the largest biomedical research facility administered by the U.S. Department of Defense.
The meeting also aimed to maintain contact between the two parties and carry out collaborative scientific research via the colleges of agriculture, veterinary medicine, and medicine.
El-Salem said the strategic partnership with WRAIR is the first step towards collaborations with US scientific institutes.
The US delegation, headed by Dr. Karen Patterson, briefed the meeting on WRAIR’s global projects related to communicable diseases.
Patterson lauded JUST’s high level, good reputation, and global achievements, calling for expanded cooperation.
