Jurgen Klopp discusses 'wrong' Liverpool decision as transfer questions raised

Another week, another big Liverpool win in the Premier League.

Jurgen Klopp’s men secured a 4-0 win over Southampton on Saturday thanks to goals from Thiago Alcantara, Virgil Van Dijk and two from Diego Jota to keep up the pressure on league leaders Chelsea.

The Reds manager got many things right on the day – but his in-game decisions have highlighted a major question ahead of the January transfer window.

Klopp has also admitted to making ‘mistakes’ last season – but says he has learned a lot from them.

And Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has made a bold top four prediction for the Premier League as Manchester United appear set to appoint Ralf Rangnick as manager until the end of the season.

Here are Mirror Football’s latest Liverpool headlines.

Carragher’s bold top four prediction

Liverpool fans will have every right to be concerned about Ralf Rangnick’s imminent appointment at Manchester United if club legend Jamie Carragher’s latest prediction is anything to go by.

Klopp admits mistake

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has admitted he made ‘mistakes’ last season but insists he’s learned a lot from it.

The Reds struggled with injuries during the course of the season, particicularly in defence with the likes of Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez being ruled out for extended periods with injury.

Klopp has now admitted to errors in how he subsequently set his team up as he struggled to cope with the long-term losses.

The Liverpool boss also explained what he learned from the difficult period in his managerial career.

Transfer questions raised

Jurgen Klopp’s decisions during the 4-0 win over Southampton have raised questions over the club’s transfer decisions – and what they might do in the upcoming January window.

With his side 4-0 up and cruising with half an hour still on the clock, the Liverpool manager could have decided to rest some of his key stars ahead of a busy period of games coming up.

But the substitutions he made came much later in the game, and some players who fans might expect to see get minutes in that situation didn’t even get on the pitch.
