Man confesses he is in love with his 'tradwife' SISTER-IN-LAW - saying she is the opposite of his career-driven wife who doesn't want children

A man has confessed to being ‘in love’ with his ‘tradwife’ sister-in-law, saying he developed feelings for her after his career-driven wife changed her mind about having children.

The 35-year-old opened up about his internal struggle on Reddit’s ‘TrueOffMyChest’ forum using a throwaway account to keep his family from discovering his darkest secret.

‘I’m in love with my sister-in-law. No, she doesn’t know. No, she doesn’t feel the same way. No, I don’t plan on telling her,’ he began his lengthy post.

He explained that it was 6 a.m. and he had been up all night thinking about about his brother-in-law’s wife, whom he called ‘Kelly.’

‘She’s somehow girl-next-door-cute and the sexiest woman I’ve ever seen,’ he wrote.

The man recalled how he first met Kelly when she was a bartender at the sports bar in town. He said all of his friends would hit on her, but then they ‘found out that she had this big muscular boyfriend.’  

‘We all made gross jokes about her that make me cringe when I think about them,’ he admitted. ‘I thought she was hot but wasn’t really that interested in her.’

He explained that his now-wife is a ‘bit older,’ saying they met when he was finishing his undergrad and she was getting her master’s degree. 

After a while of dating, she introduced him to her brother ‘Bill,’ who was ‘6’4″ with huge hands and a perpetual 5 o’clock shadow.’

To his surprise, Kelly was holding his hand, and he realized Bill was her ‘big muscular boyfriend.’ 

The man said his feelings for Kelly ‘developed very slowly’ over the past 13 years and was not something he had anticipated happening.

‘I never intended to fall in love with her, but, honestly, everyone around her does,’ he claimed. ‘She’s smart and kind and possibly the funniest person I’ve ever met. She is HILARIOUS.

‘She doesn’t judge anyone. She comes at everyone with understanding and kindness, no matter how they come at her. And probably, most importantly, she’s a fabulous mother.’

The Reddit user explained that he and his wife had initially agreed to have children, but then she changed her mind.

He insisted that he ‘respects her decision,’ but he admitted that it hurt to watch Kelly and Bill have three children together.

‘They’re not rich, but they live comfortably. Kelly doesn’t work outside of the home. I never thought I would feel this way but I am INTENSELY jealous of their life. Kelly is basically a tradwife,’ he wrote, using the trendy new term for a traditional housewife.

He explained that she is a ‘fabulous cook’ and makes everything from scratch, including fresh pasta and ground meat for burgers.

The man added that their house is ‘so homey and comfy’ with ‘thoughtful details,’ and she is ‘clearly such a loving and patient mom’ to her three children.

‘I’m sure some of this is the grass being greener,’ he said. ‘My wife is very ambitious and career-oriented, and I’m constantly impressed by her drive and what she’s accomplished.

‘She doesn’t really like to cook or clean and I don’t expect her to, but I’m jealous that Bill comes home to a hot meal and a neatly made bed every day.’

He noted that his wife is ‘pretty judgmental,’ especially about Kelly ‘working in bars’ and ‘caring about her appearance.’

He said she ‘really ramped up her judgmental barbs’ when Kelly became a stay-at-home housewife, which he thinks is partially due to her being secretly jealous.

‘I didn’t mean for it to be this way but every time my wife says something negative about Kelly I feel for her more and for my wife less,’ he said.

‘I can’t avoid her or let on how I feel, but I think about her constantly. Whenever she compliments me (which is often, that’s just what she’s like), it stays with me for weeks.’

The man gushed about how Kelly gives a compliment, offers snacks, and always remembers everyone’s favorite drinks and candy for when they visit.

‘She remembers everyone’s birthdays. She buys the most thoughtful presents at Christmas,’ he continued. ‘There are always jokes about spotting which wrapping paper she chose this year.

He said his college friends still joke about her looks, and while he will ‘shrug them off and say she isn’t even that hot,’ it upsets him to hear them objectify her.  

‘She’s an incredible, magical person. I think I would be in love with her even if she was a fat, ugly man,’ he wrote at the end of his post.

‘I don’t know why I’m typing all of this out, it seems dumb now. It’s too long to delete though. If you read it all, I appreciate it. I just want to be able to talk about Kelly, and obviously, I can’t anywhere else.’

Many commenters agreed that he is not in love with Kelly but rather the life she and her husband have, saying he clearly resents his wife for not wanting kids.

‘I don’t think you’re in love with your SIL. You’re in love with the idea of what your BIL and SIL have and you wish you had it in your marriage too… You should talk to your wife about how you’re feeling and see a marriage counselor,’ one person advised.

‘You mentioned she went from wanting children to not, and I’m no therapist, but there might be some resentment coming from you. All these things are building up and you’re unhappy.’

‘You’re not in [love] with your wife. You don’t enjoy your lifestyle. And… you want kids. Kelly provides the perfect contrast,’ someone else agreed. ‘I don’t think you’re in love with her. I think you want the life she and her husband live. You can have that life but not with Kelly and not [while] married to your wife.’

‘You’re in love with a fantasy, it’s not real. But you are also not in love with your wife,’ another insisted. ‘It sounds like you resent your wife, and that she is not like Kelly and also she talks negatively about her. You need to leave this marriage before your “feelings” implode this family.’

After reading through some of the comments, the man returned to the post to clarify a few points, insisting he doesn’t want his ‘own tradwife.’

‘I have realized I do really want children,’ he explained. ‘I’m 35 and healthy so I have a fair amount of time. I’m going to sit my wife down at some point in the near future to discuss it.

‘I’m sure many of you will be delighted to hear it’s likely the end of my marriage and the end of my connection to Kelly, which is probably a good thing.’
