Jumpa lombong emas haram, ops khas diteruskan di Sabah

KOTA KINABALU: Polis akan melanjutkan operasi khas untuk melindungi sumber asli negara ini, selepas penemuan aktiviti melombong emas haram di Lahad Datu, timur Sabah.

Aktiviti berkenaan dipercayai berlaku sejak berdekad-dekad lalu di Hutan Simpan Ulu Segama-Malua.

Pengarah Jabatan Keselamatan Dalam Negeri dan Ketenteraman Awam Bukit Aman Hazani Ghazali berkata, penemuan itu dibuat ketika Operasi Bersepadu Khazanah (OBK), melibatkan Pasukan Gerakan Am (PGA), Jabatan Hidupan Liar Sabah, Jabatan Perhutanan Sabah, Taman-taman Sabah dan Taman Alam Sedunia (WWF).

Pasukan itu menemui bukti aktiviti melombong emas haram di hutan simpan berkenaan pada Ogos. Ini termasuk terowong bawah tanah dan enam kawasan lombong meliputi 8km berhampiran Sungai Bole.

Mereka turut menemui sekurang-kurangnya 103 lubang di dalam tanah dengan kedalaman 10m hingga 17m, yang digunakan untuk keluar dan masuk ke terowong bawah tanah berkenaan.

Pasukan OBK mempercayai, aktiviti perlombongan itu berjalan sejak 1990-an berdasarkan bukti ditinggalkan.

Dalam taklimatnya kepada Hazani semalam, Timbalan Komander PGA Sabah Toipi Lamat berkata, suspek dalam kegiatan lombong haram itu telah melarikan diri sebelum serbuan dilakukan pada Ogos.

Beliau percaya mereka sudah lama tinggal di kawasan itu berdasarkan tanaman buah-buahan dan sayur-sayuran ditemui di sekitar 14 pondok yang dibina di situ. Malah kawasan itu turut mempunyai khemah, rumah pokok dan gelanggang bola keranjang.

Toipi berkata, dua pelombong disyaki maut selepas terperangkap dalam terowong runtuh. Seorang pula dipercayai meninggal dunia dalam pergaduhan, manakala seorang lagi akibat malaria. Kerakyatan mereka tidak diketahui.

Operasi mungkin dilanjutkan

Hazani berkata, beliau percaya wujud sebab wajar untuk melanjutkan OBK yang sepatutnya berakhir semalam selepas 67 hari.

“Saya sepatutnya menutup operasi ini tetapi saya tidak mahu. OBK akan diteruskan di Sabah.

“Malah saya akan membawa OBK di Sabah sebagai model untuk Semenanjung dan Sarawak,” katanya kepada pemberita selepas melawat pusat operasi OBK di Sandakan, semalam.

“Jika cadangan saya diluluskan, saya pasti akan melibatkan agensi kerajaan lain dalam OBK.”

Sejak dilancarkan pada 13 Ogos, katanya, operasi telah membuat rampasan berjumlah RM3.2 juta dalam 66 kes. Hazani berkata, aktiviti haram seperti itu mengakibatkan banyak kerugian untuk negara.

“Saya akan mencadangkan supaya tindakan drastik diambil di bawah Akta Kesalahan Keselamatan (Langkah-langkah Khas) 2012 (SOSMA) dan Akta Pencegahan Jenayah (1959) POCA, selain Akta Pembiayaan Antipemerdagangan Wang dan Antikeganasan (2001).

“Penjenayah ini meraih keuntungan lumayan daripada aktiviti haram dan saya pasti ada sindiket terlibat.

“Saya juga akan mencadangkan supaya kerajaan memperluaskan skop Biro Jenayah Hidupan Liar yang diluluskan pada Jun supaya turut merangkumi pembalakan, perlombongan dan pemburuan haram, selain eksploitasi flora dan fauna.”
