Jubilant Pakatan supporters chant, sing outside Istana Negara

KUALA LUMPUR: Hundreds of Pakatan Harapan supporters from all age ranges were seen chanting to celebrate the appointment of its chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as the 10th Prime Minister at Istana Negara.

They were singing the national anthem and a song titled “We Are The One” to celebrate the appointment.

The student community from Universiti Malaya were also present.

Barisan Nasional chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi was also seen arriving while waving to the supporters at 4.27pm.

Earlier, the Comptroller of the Royal Household Datuk Seri Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin, in a statement, said the decision was made after the special meeting of the Conference of Malay Rulers at 11am today.

“After careful consideration of the decree made by the Malay Rulers, His Majesty the King has given his consent to appoint Anwar (Tambun member of Parliament) as the 10th Prime Minister, in line with His Majesty’s power provided under Articles 40(2)(a) and 43(2)(a) of the Federal Constitution.
