High-pressure area’s ridge to bring hot weather on Sunday (April 21) – Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines — Hot and humid temperatures will continue to affect most parts of the country on Sunday due to the ridge of a high-pressure area (HPA), while the trough of a low-pressure area (LPA) spotted outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) will bring rain in Southern Mindanao, according to the state weather bureau.

In a morning forecast, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said hot weather will prevail in Luzon, generally fair weather in Visayas, while Mindanao will have high chances of rain and thunderstorms.

(The LPA outside PAR was last spotted 555 km southwest of General Santos City. This LPA has a low chance of developing into a cyclone, but its trough will bring a high chance of rain and thunderstorms in Southern Mindanao.)

Despite the effects of the LPA’s trough, Castañeda said no gale warning had been raised on the country’s seaboards.
