Jordan, Bosnia talk cooperation in tourism
Amman, Mar. 23 (Petra) — Secretary-General of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities Imad Hijazin welcomed a delegation from Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Ministry of Environment and Tourism, inbound tourism agencies, and representatives of the USAID-funded Sustainable Tourism Development in Bosnia and Herzegovina (Turizam) project.
The visit aims to exchange expertise in tourism development, including marketing and preserving archeological sites.
Jordan has tourism privileges that suit everyone, such as religious, cultural, medical, and adventure tourism, said Hijazin, pointing to the National Tourism Strategy 2021-2025, which contains five main axes: product development, human resource development, marketing, heritage maintenance and management, and reforms.
The tourism sector, he continued, is the main contributor to the national economy and jobs generation, bringing in JD4.1 billion (13 percent of Gross Domestic Product) in revenues during 2022. Jordan welcomed some 5.1 million tourists during the same year, he added.
The delegation commended Jordan’s advanced infrastructure, natural atmosphere, and tourist and archaeological sites, pointing out that the visit aims to learn about Jordan’s experiences in the tourism sector.
