Comedian and radio presenter Joel Creasey is “devastated” that he won’t be able to get to Perth for his shows this weekend.
Despite stopping at nothing, the Perth-raised and now Melbourne-based personality, was not granted a special exemption to travel and perform as part of his Messy B***c tour at Crown Theatre on Friday and Saturday night.
Creasey updated fans this morning, taking to Instagram to announce that he was left with no option but to cancel the show again with borders between Victoria and WA closed.
“I’m devastated that I won’t be coming home to perform my two shows this weekend. I have tried everything to get there and last night I was notified that my exemption application was rejected,”he wrote.
“I just wanted to be completely transparent and let you know I am shattered I cannot be there.
“I can’t respond to all your messages as I’ve received so many and some of you have been asking me for an update hourly.
“I assure you we’ve had a team on this around the clock and explored every avenue we could. Thank you to all those who have been so understanding.
“At this stage we are just working through the possibility of new show dates. Live Nation and Ticketmaster will let you know later today.
“I just wanted to give you the heads up and as much time as possible to plan something else fabulous for the weekend. You are spoilt for choice with some brilliant local comics.
“Hopefully see you on stage… at some stage.”
Creasey’s mum Jenny explained to PerthNow on Tuesday this was “the fourth time he's tried to get here”.
“Joel's been trying to get in for the weekend with a special pass. (He would) have to go into quarantine, be taken to Crown, back to quarantine, back to Crown.” she said.
As it played out, Creasey was unable to secure an exemption to enter WA and won’t be put through those tough restrictions.Internet Explorer Channel Network
