Bologna coach reacts as Zirkzee gets first call up after indicating interest to play for Nigeria
Bologna manager, Thiago Motta, has said that Joshua Zirkzee deserves to be handed a first international call up days after indicating interest to represent Nigeria.
Recall that Netherlands coach Ronald Koeman included the forward in his provisional squad of 30 players for the friendly games against Scotland and Germany in March.
Zirkzee is eligible for Nigeria through his mother and will not be cap-tied to his country of birth if he earns minutes against Scotland and Germany as both games are friendlies.
Speaking at a press conference before his side’s Serie A clash with Atalanta on Sunday, Motta was quoted as saying by Bologna Sport News: “Very happy for him ([Zirkzee].
“He deserves it 200 per cent for what he has shown to date.
“He must take it naturally, continuing to work as he has done up to now.”
